Hillary Clinton compared Donald Trump’s MAGA supporters to “cult members” during a new interview and suggested they may need to go through “formal deprogramming.” Clinton also took a few jabs at Trump himself and asked Americans not to elect him President again.
A New Interview With Hillary Clinton
Hillary Clinton sat down for a new interview with CNN this week. She talked about everything from Donald Trump to Kevin McCarthy getting removed as Speaker of the House during it.
Taking Aim at Donald Trump’s MAGA Supporters
Clinton took several shots at Donald Trump’s MAGA contingent while speaking with CNN. She wondered how they can still support the former President in the aftermath of the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol building.
Referring to MAGA Supporters as Cult Members
Clinton went as far as to compare MAGA supporters to cult members during the interview.
Suggesting MAGA Supporters Need Professional Help
Clinton also hinted at the fact that she believes Trump’s MAGA followers might need to seek professional help to bring them back to reality. “There needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members,” she said.
Criticizing Trump Himself
Clinton took aim at Trump himself at one point, too.
She blamed him for radicalizing his MAGA followers. “Sadly, so many of those extremists, those MAGA extremists, take their marching orders from Donald Trump, who has no credibility left by any measure,” she said.
Ripping Trump for Being Self-Centered
Clinton also revealed that she doesn’t think Trump actually cares about those who support him. She believes he is “only in it for himself.”
Calling On Americans to Not Vote for Trump
Clinton admitted that Trump is probably going to end up being the Republican candidate for President heading into the 2024 Presidential Election.
But she asked Americans not to vote for him.
Asking Americans to Vote for President Joe Biden Instead
Clinton asked people to vote for the current President Joe Biden rather than electing Trump to office again. She said it should be a very easy decision for them.
Pleading Her Case
“One will wreck our democracy. One violates the law on a regular basis,” Clinton said. “One appeals to the worst in our collective psyche. The other gets things done. Why is that a hard choice?”
Getting a Response From Trump
Trump himself is yet to chime in on Clinton’s latest comments.
But the Make America Great Again, Inc. organization chimed in on them. A spokesperson from the group chastised Clinton.
Calling Out Hillary Clinton
“President Trump has said countless times that they are only coming after him because he stands in their way from coming after you—and Hillary Clinton just confirmed that to be true,” the spokesperson said.
Shooting Down Clinton’s “Formal Deprogramming” Idea
The spokesperson for MAGA, Inc. also compared Clinton’s “formal deprogramming” idea to the “re-education camps” that have been used in some other parts of the world.
“Tens of millions of Americans will reject the Democratic Party’s re-education camp agenda in November 2024 when we make Donald Trump the 47th President of the United States,” the spokesperson said.
Commenting on Kevin McCarthy’s Ouster
Clinton was also asked for her thoughts on Kevin McCarthy being removed as Speaker of the House. She criticized the far-right members of the House for ousting him.
“He was not continuing to be captive to the far-right extremists,” she said, “so they toppled him. It was a very small number as you look at the vote. But now we’re reaping the consequences of their behavior.”
Calling for a Change
Clinton said she hopes the next Speaker of the House is strong enough to stand up to this group of far-right politicians.
Promoting Hope for the Future
“At some point, there needs to be a backlash against the control that this small group of extremists have,” Clinton said. “I don’t know who will lead that, but let’s hope whoever becomes the new Speaker will.”
