California Education Is ‘Problematic’
While acknowledging that there are excellent schools in his current home of Austin, Texas, Rogan expressed concern about the state of education in California, which he described as “much more problematic.”
He Remembers a Disturbing Incident
Rogan began by recounting an incident in which his daughter’s school hired a teacher who introduced a curriculum that emphasized being “antiracist” and called on young children to actively combat racism.
He Says Children Aren’t Racist
This approach troubled Rogan, who firmly believed that his children were not racist and questioned why they were being exposed to such concepts at such a young age.
‘My Kids Aren’t Racist at All’
He voiced his frustration, saying, “My kids aren’t racist at all. What are you doing? Like, why are you putting that into their head? That they have to be antiracist and call out racism.”
According to Rogan, the teacher was attempting to turn his 5-year-old daughter and her peers into activists, a notion that he found baffling.
Seeking Friendship Not Complex Social Issues
He said that at that age, children primarily seek friendship and play rather than engaging in complex social and political discussions.
‘Guilt-Ridden Ideology’
Rogan criticized what he saw as an attempt to indoctrinate young children into a “woke, guilt-ridden ideology,” highlighting his concerns about adults imposing their beliefs on kids.
He Proposes a ‘Color-Blind Society’
Instead of advocating for “antiracism,” Rogan proposed striving for a “color-blind society,” echoing the ideals of Martin Luther King Jr., who advocated for evaluating individuals based on their character rather than the color of their skin.
Issues of Inequality Exist
Rogan acknowledged that there are issues of inequality in communities and individuals facing dire circumstances.
He Says Teaching Children This Is Counterproductive
However, he argued that focusing on teaching young children about guilt and the complexities of social issues was counterproductive.
‘They Just Try to Make Kids Feel Guilty’
He said, “None of the real problems get addressed, none of that gets fixed, none of that gets worked on, and instead, they just try to make kids feel guilty.”
He Doesn’t Want Pronouns in Schools
Furthermore, Rogan expressed discomfort with the emphasis on gender identity and pronouns in schools, asserting that children should be allowed to be children without being burdened with such discussions.
They Have Relocated to Texas
In 2020, Joe Rogan and his family relocated from California to Austin, Texas, citing reasons such as overpopulation in Los Angeles and the appeal of greater personal freedom in their new home.
