In a dramatic tale posted on Reddit, user Crystal_Dragon shared a story of a nasty encounter she had recently at the restaurant where she works.
A Busy Lunch Rush
It was one of those chaotic afternoons in the restaurant where Crystal worked. The drinks were pouring in, and the absence of a coworker was making matters worse.
She Was Left to Manage the Floor Alone
Caddie, another coworker, was left to manage the floor alone until she received some unexpected assistance from two former colleagues who were eating at the restaurant.
Clocking In
Crystal arrived at 9:30, ready to jump into action, while Caddie began preparing carts for the dishwashers to clean the dishes and provide a fresh supply of cups for the team.
The Challenge Begins
The first round of tables went smoothly, with Crystal skillfully managing the rush. As the second round approached, the pace of her work really picked up.
The hosts began running their own bar drinks and lending a hand whenever possible. Then, Crystal asked if there were any extra clean cups, concerned that there would not be any left if the next rush was like the last.
A Quest for Clean Cups
Caddie told Crystal that the cups had just been washed but were left to dry near the dish pit. Crystal agreed to check after 5 mins to allow them time to dry, but the minutes slipped away amidst other tasks.
Crystal rushed downstairs with only a few cups left to find out if they were ready.
Confronting Karen
Crystal approached Karen, the dishwasher, and politely asked her if the cups were clean. However, Karen’s response was surprisingly aggressive.
Oblivious and seemingly uninterested, Karen shrugged off her question, leaving Crystal bewildered.
That’s Not What I Heard
When she mentioned Caddie’s previous statement about Karen washing the cups, Karen’s bizarre behavior escalated. She grabbed a cup and thrust it into Crystal’s face, challenging her to “smell.” She was shocked.
A Rush and Temporary Relief
After a long wait, a stack of clean cups finally arrived, much to the team’s relief. However, the rush of drink orders and the scorching heat outside quickly depleted their supply.
Scared to Ask
Crystal hurriedly transported the empty racks back to the dish pit, only to find more stacks of cups idling next to it.
She did not know if they were clean, so once again, she asked Karen, hoping for a different outcome this time.
The Final Straw
Once again, Karen dismissed Crystal’s concerns, insisting that the cups were clean. Crystal hesitated, unsure if this was true, but the need for cups compelled her to take them.
Unfortunately, most of the cups were sticky and stained with syrup.
Seeking Resolution
Sorting through the mess, Crystal separated the dirty cups for another wash. Frustrated and determined, she sought out Joy, the floor manager.
She approached Joy, explaining the situation with Karen’s negligent and rude behavior regarding the cups.
Leave It to Me
Listening to Crystal’s retelling of what happened, Joy promised to address the matter. She thanked Crystal for bringing it to her attention and said that she would speak to Karen as soon as possible.
