A young man recently caused a stir on Reddit after he outed a coworker for excluding him from his wedding. The twist is that the rest of the office was invited. Here is the full story.
He Has a Good Team
OP is a 30-year-old man who has been working at his company for seven years. For the past five years, he has worked with a pretty close-knit team of 15 coworkers.
He Had Great News
As with many companies, OP and his colleagues worked from home during the pandemic. During one Zoom meeting in that period, a coworker who joined the team at the same time as OP announced that he had gotten engaged.
It Was Going to Be a Big Party
Several months later, the man told the team that he had set a date for his wedding, and that it would be held at a picturesque winery. OP and the rest of his coworkers were excited to hear about the upcoming ceremonies.
He Was Completely Stoked
OP in particular was looking forward to the festivities, because he always found weddings to be really fun. He also liked hanging out with his colleagues.
Lost in the Mail?
As the wedding approached, invitations started arriving and the office was buzzing. But OP didn’t receive an invite when everyone else did, which made him feel excluded and confused.
He Decided to Ask
OP was going to shrug it off as an oversight, but he finally decided to ask the groom-to-be about the missing invitation. He hoped there had been some misunderstanding or at least a reasonable explanation.
There Was No Room for Him
Instead, OP’s coworker told him with a solemn expression that he had run out of space at the wedding venue. He had to cut someone from the invited list, and OP drew the short straw.
He Didn’t Want Them to Know
The coworker said he was sorry but he was sure OP understood. He also asked OP not to make a big deal about it or tell their colleagues that he had been left out. He left with a promise to save some wedding cake for OP.

OP was upset and felt disrespected, but he agreed not to make a fuss. He figured it was his coworker’s wedding and he could invite who he wanted, even though being left out really stung.

It seems OP’s coworkers had noticed his absence at the wedding, and when they asked the groom about it, he said that OP was sick and unable to attend.

Hearing that lie angered OP, and he told his coworker the truth about not being invited. She was shocked by the revelation and asked him to repeat himself, which he did.
