Have you ever had an encounter with a stranger that left you feeling frustrated and bewildered? Well, in today’s story, we will dive into a infuriating encounter that Johnny had with a stranger in a supermarket almost ten years ago. Let’s hear his story.
A British Nurse
Johnny, a nurse in England, had just finished his fifth shift in a row at the hospital. He was exhausted, looking forward to getting drunk and taking a much-needed break.
He Needed to Buy Something
As he made his way home, he remembered that he had no alcohol in the house.
He Knew Where to Go
Being in no mood to go pub hopping, he decided to cross the street and visit the 24-hour Asda, a supermarket chain that was conveniently located across the road from his house.
He Entered the Store Wearing His Scrubs
Johnny entered the store, still in his scrubs, and headed straight for the alcohol aisle. He grabbed two packs of a particular dark beer and moved on to the whiskeys.
He Had a Fan
As he was browsing the whiskeys, he noticed a lady watching him. He paid her no mind and grabbed a bottle of bourbon.
He then realized he was hungry, having only eaten a piece of pizza all day, and headed towards the ready meals section.
Who Are You?
As he reached for his first meal, he heard a voice calling out to him, “Excuse me!” He turned around to see the lady who had been watching him – we’ll call her Karen.
She was pointing at a bag of frozen chicken in her cart and said, “I need two more of those.”
She Was Rude
Johnny was in no mood to deal with this, and he replied, “So what?” Karen then said, “So I need you to get me two more!” Johnny responded with, “Sorry, can’t do.”
Karen was becoming increasingly agitated and said, “What do you mean you can’t do? Go back and bring me two more!”
She Escalated Fast!
At this point, Johnny realized that Karen thought he worked there. He replied, “Sorry, I don’t work here.”
Karen then said, “Don’t give me that rubbish! Just bring the darn wings!”
He Couldn’t Believe What He Was Hearing
Johnny couldn’t believe what he was hearing and responded with, “Are you colorblind?” He was wearing dark blue scrubs, while the workers had black trousers and green polos.
She Thought He Was the Rude One
Karen was shocked by his response and said, “How dare you!”
Johnny simply replied, “Anyway, there is an employee over there,” pointing to an employee who was two aisles over, filling shelves.
He Then Walked Away From Her
He told her to go ask him. He then walked away, not wanting to deal with her any longer.
She Tracked Him Down!
As Johnny was paying for his alcohol and food, he saw Karen approaching with an employee accompanying her. She pointed at Johnny and said, “That’s him! He didn’t help me and was rude! I want him fired!”
“I Can’t Fire a Customer”
The employee, who appeared to be the night manager, said, “Ma’am, he’s wearing hospital scrubs! I can’t fire a customer.”
Her Strange Logic
Karen was not satisfied with the employee’s response and said, “But he’s wearing a uniform! He should have helped me!”
His Retort?
The employee looked back at Johnny for an explanation. Johnny responded, “Don’t look at me. I just want to get stupidly drunk,” tapping the beers.
Karen tried to say something more, but at that point, Johnny had already paid and grabbed his “groceries” before walking out.
Luckily He Could Browse in Peace
A few weeks later, Johnny saw Karen again shopping at the same store, but he was not wearing his scrubs, and she did not recognize him.
He was glad to be able to shop in peace without any more incidents.
He Still Can’t Believe It
The encounter with Karen left Johnny feeling angry and frustrated. He couldn’t believe how entitled and rude some people could be.
It was frustrating to deal with customers like Karen, who assumed that just because someone was wearing a certain type of clothing, they worked at the store.
He Knew He Was Representing the Hospital
Johnny knew that his response to Karen’s request could have been better, but he was just so tired and didn’t want to deal with her attitude.
He realized that even though he was not in a professional setting, he was still representing the hospital where he worked.
He Knew That He Should Be More Patient
Johnny knew that he should have been more patient and polite, but he just couldn’t bring himself to do so at that moment.

Johnny’s encounter with Karen was certainly an unpleasant experience. It’s unfortunate that he had to deal with a rude and entitled customer after a long and exhausting workday.
