Anna’s journey through her master’s degree took an unexpected turn a few years ago when she and her friend, both seeking respite from their exhaustive research, secured an apartment near a serene lake.
But It Wasn’t to Be
Little did they know that their dreams of a peaceful haven would be shattered by the arrival of an eccentric neighbor named Lady Cricket Lee.
Hailing from the far reaches of California, Lady Cricket Lee presented herself as a free-spirited individual with an affinity for cats and an occupation as a card reader and spiritual medium.
Their Apartment Was a Sanctuary
Situated in a rural region, the campus they attended catered specifically to forestry students. It was far away from the bustling main campus to facilitate their studies in a natural reserve and sylviculture sites.
With only thirty fellow students and a mere 1,500 inhabitants in the surrounding village, the apartment seemed like an idyllic sanctuary for Anna and her friend.
They Thought She’d Be Better Than Their Last Neighbor
But their initial encounters with Lady Cricket Lee quickly shattered their illusions.
Their previous upstairs neighbors had been evicted due to suspected domestic abuse, leaving Anna and her friend hopeful that their new neighbor would bring tranquility to their lives.

Despite the strict limit of two cats per tenant, Lady Cricket Lee brazenly exceeded this number, harboring two adults and an astonishing five kittens.
The resulting racket wreaked havoc on Anna and her friend’s sleep-deprived bodies, already fatigued from their grueling summer of stress and fieldwork.
She Said What?!
In a bizarre turn of events, Lady Cricket Lee began to assert that Anna and her friend were deliberately poisoning her with their laundry detergent!
This outlandish claim was rooted in an absurd belief that chemical fumes from the drying process seeped through the apartment and caused her to fall ill.
There Was No Way It Was True
Anna knew better. She was well aware that clothes detergent did not emit harmful fumes when dried, and the dryer vent directed moisture outside, not into neighboring apartments.
The evidence was plain to see as vapor visibly escaped from the vent. Yet, Lady Cricket Lee vehemently accused Anna and her friend of attempting to bring about her demise.
The Landlord Went Along With It
Fueling her paranoia, she lodged a complaint with the landlord, who proved to be easily swayed by her unfounded allegations.
How Gross!
The situation quickly escalated as Anna and her friend sought to address their own grievances.
They voiced their concerns regarding the constant noise and the cat litter that Lady Cricket Lee casually discarded in the shared entrance next to their door.
To their disbelief, this eccentric neighbor would casually descend her staircase to deposit the foul litter in a cardboard box! This was a complete disregarding for the shared space and the basic rules of cleanliness!
A Poisonous Atmosphere
The shared entrance became a battleground. Lady Cricket Lee left cat litter next to Anna’s door, and her heavy weed smoking only added to the intolerable atmosphere.
Complaints about the smell resulted in feeble attempts to cover it up with cheap incense and air fresheners from the dollar store.
She Was Poisoning Them!
The situation became unbearable as Anna’s friend started suffering from asthma attacks and perfume allergies due to the overpowering scents.
They Hated Spending Time at Home
Laundry became a dreaded task, as every attempt to use the machines resulted in verbal abuse and profanities from above. Anna and her friend reached their breaking point after enduring several months of this torment.
They Couldn’t Take It Anymore
They presented an ultimatum to the landlord: it was either them or Lady Cricket Lee. Frustrated by the landlord’s indecisiveness, Anna and her friend took matters into their own hands and left, paying only half of the rent.

From drug addict centers to religious newsletters and adult sites to Alcoholics Anonymous resources, Anna signed Lady Cricket Lee up for everything she could find.
It was an act of therapeutic catharsis, a way to reclaim power over the tormentor who had made their lives a living hell.
They Also Left Her a Parting Gift
When Anna and her friend found a new place, they made sure to leave a parting gift. The radio blared loudly in the room below Lady Cricket Lee’s bedroom, disrupting her peace for days.
A Farewell Party
And as they bid farewell with a memorable party (with the consent of their considerate neighbors), they took turns playfully knocking on the ceiling with a broom, laughing off the screams of frustration.
The truth about Lady Cricket Lee’s true nature had become common knowledge among their neighbors.
The Other Neighbors Took Their Revenge on Lady Cricket
But the grand finale was orchestrated by those very neighbors. Equipped with a powerful stereo system, they played the most obnoxious house music beats that reverberated through the walls.
It was a party that they would never forget. It lasted until the early hours of the morning, tormenting Lady Cricket Lee. Months later, Anna learned that the landlord had finally evicted her!
Sometimes Petty Revenge Is the Only Course of Action
In the end, Anna found solace in her own unique form of revenge, albeit a petty one. While we may not all endorse or condone such actions, there’s something undeniably satisfying about seeing a troublesome individual face the repercussions of their behavior.
